Are Leaders in Thailand Prepared for Thailand 4.0?

2

Pages 1-10
Dr. Klaudia Schmidt

Abstract
Industry 4.0 is celebrated in Thailand as the next level of economic success for their country. The concept is also called Thailand 4.0 to emphasize that for the adapted Thai version of Industry 4.0 Creativity and Innovation are defined as main targets. The problem with Thailand 4.0 is that in the whole discussion the preconditions and consequences that this change needs in order to be successful are somehow neglected, ignored or unfortunately played down. A successful implementation of Thailand 4.0 requires leaders and with them a certain mindset and behavior so that they are equipped to transform and motivate employees in the direction of Creativity and Innovation. Leadership is also embedded in the predominant culture of any society and can support or block change. Fifteen leaders, Thais and foreigners, were interviewed for this study to understand how prepared leaders are for Thailand 4.0 and their shift towards creativity and innovation.

Abstract
In a highly dynamic and data-driven economy and with the influx of information from various sources mobilized by internet connectivity and innovative platforms, finance professionals encounter challenges as they struggle to assess and interpret data expeditiously as they come. To address this phenomenon, Jose Rizal University has partnered with the leading global financial trading institution such as Bloomberg. A number of students under the finance program who envision themselves as stock traders, analyst and portfolio managers have undergone a skills-based training through the Bloomberg Professional Training Program. The program aims to offer students the fundamental knowledge in trading various types of securities used by individuals and institutional participants in the capital market.
As this is a pioneering certification program offered to finance students, this study served as a preliminary assessment on the experiences of students given modules in equities, foreign exchange, fix-income and bonds, and portfolio management. Students assessed the significance and relevance of these modules to their professions in the future and making them equipped with the necessary skills and technical know-hows that would lead to sound financial decision-making. The results of the study provided a positive validation of the University’s partnership with Bloomberg as students acknowledged the relevance of the certification program to their professions as they plan to venture into capital market trading. The modules provided necessary skills in decision-making with the utilization and navigation of a financial tool software that allowed them to maximize data and provide accurate forecasts. Given the favorable results of the study, it is to best interest of students and the University to continuously offer the certification program not just to finance students but also students under the Business Administration program and other professionals who seek to acquire new knowledge and improve their securities trading competencies.

Abstract
The enormous shortage of tissue for transplants due to over population in some parts of the world and rising call for more study in vitro-simulation of human body transport system has arouse the need for full characterization of flow of heat and fluid in microchannel as typical in blood vessels. In this study three 2-dimensional bifurcated models were constructed. The bifurcation angles used are 30o, 45o and 60o with a uniform decrease in diameter of the microchannel from 200μm to 25μm, as the bifurcations are formed. The results showed that the bifurcation angle has a great impact on flow characteristics in a microchannel A 30o bifurcation angle is more preferable as the fluid velocity is appreciable and with little loss in fluid pressure along the channel.
